Pride and Tradition

In its gastronomy, Mexico boasts history. Tradition, culture, aromas and flavors come from the pre-Hispanic world to the present day.

 

In the midst of the inexhaustible offer of tourist destinations that Mexico offers to the world, we could mention ecological tourism, sports, cultural, artistic tourism and beach destinations; all of them are linked to gastronomy.

The almost inexhaustible variety of foods that each place offers to its visitors is an attraction for each of them and you will find it relevant to know them.

In its gastronomy, Mexico boasts history. Tradition, culture, aromas and flavors come from the pre-Hispanic world to the present day.

Mexican gastronomy represents a rich vein of possibilities and variants for tourism that wants to know the main manifestations of a culture.
The variants range from simple visits to restaurants that offer Mexican food, whether traditional, regional or the so-called "creation cuisine", to the study of ethno-gastronomy or historical studies of gastronomy.

 

No matter how frivolous or superficial the contact with Mexican gastronomy, the concern to know its history, background and origins will always arise.
There is no visitor in our country who is not fascinated by the richness of colors, shapes, textures, smells and flavors in a Mexican market, that just with fruits enjoy this paradise.

Mexican cuisine is renowned for the delight that palates experience. Not only the flavor or color of the spices and herbs that give the final touch to these meals are fundamental, the way in which these succulent dishes are prepared is vital to make it worthy of this Mexican country.

 

The origins of Mexican gastronomy date back to the pre-Hispanic period where the main ingredient was corn as well as others, such as: cocoa, chili, nopales, avocado, tomato, beans, etc.

 

The arrival of the Spaniards meant that there was a miscegenation in gastronomy, since they introduced new ingredients, such as: fruits, sugars, oils, cereals and spices that enriched what was already known.

Thanks to that, the dishes that today are main in our country were born and have given worldwide fame to Mexican gastronomy, as well as mole, cochinita pibil, chiles en nogada, carnitas, typical tacos, among others.

There is no visitor in our country who is not fascinated by the richness of colors, shapes, textures, smells and flavors.

According to The World's Best 50 Restaurants Ranking of 2021, 2 Mexico City Resturants are in that select group. 

The gastronomic heritage of Aztec cuisine has become one of the most powerful attractions for internal and external tourism; there is no part of the world where there is no Mexican restaurant and Mexico is cataloged par excellence as one of the first culinary destinations on the planet.

 

According to the Ranking the The World's Best 50 Restaurants - known as the Oscars of the gastronomic world - of 2021, 2 Resturantes of Mexico City are in that select group such as Pujol Restaurant in the No. 9 position and nominated as the Best Restaurant in North America 2021 and the Quintonil restaurant the No. 27 position.

 

Many of the tourist destinations are recognized because they have been responsible for promoting the art of authentic traditional Mexican cuisine, including the states of Oaxaca, Puebla or Yucatan. And others more essential when visiting the country, such as Nayarit, Colima, Los Cabos, Chiapas and Mexico City itself.

For this reason, since the year 2010, Mexican gastronomy was declared an intangible Cultural heritage of humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Thanks to this,Mexican cuisine is considered a crucial element of national identity due to its history, creativity, diversity and international transcendence.

​The Mexican gastronomy is without a doubt, an unparalleled attraction to the palate that, not only shows a historical continuity, but it enjoys an important role as an element of identity for the Mexican people, it rests on products originating in their land and presumes of a high creativity in their cuisine, who over the centuries have been perfecting their technique maintaining the essence of traditional cuisine.
